Greenhouses: Fruits and Vegetables

Greenhouses:

Greenhouses are structures that create favorable conditions for the development of plants, fruits, and vegetables, regardless of the season. The most popular fruits and vegetables grown in greenhouses include: tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, eggplants, cabbages, lettuce, carrots, spinach, green herbs, flowers, legumes, and other crops.
On the other hand, greenhouses also create ideal conditions and environments for the development of various pests.

Organic Invest Bio Protection provides innovative biological mechanisms for pest control in greenhouse crops.

It is important to emphasize that greenhouses maintain suitable conditions for pest development year-round. This leads to pests generating more generations compared to open fields.

We recommend introducing Trichogramma both before the start of the growing season and after its conclusion. This preparation and prevention model minimizes pest damage and suppresses their populations.

Orchards:
Orchard crops can be divided into tree-like, shrub-like, and herbaceous categories, as well as into pome, stone fruit, nut-bearing, and berry groups.
The most popular orchard species in Bulgaria include trees such as apples, pears, cherries, sour cherries, plums, apricots, peaches, walnuts, almonds, sloes, chestnuts, raspberries, strawberries, and others.

Like all plants, orchard trees are also susceptible to attacks from various pests, primarily from the orders Diptera and Lepidoptera.
To protect plants from pests and ensure high-quality yields, it is essential to monitor the start of pest flights and to promptly colonize Trichogramma or Chrysoperla carnea.

We offer two methods for Trichogramma colonization, depending on the orchard size:

  • For orchards up to 5 hectares, we recommend using small boxes. Get the product from HERE.
  • For larger orchards over 5 hectares, we recommend treatment using our proprietary agro-drones with biodegradable capsules containing Trichogramma, specifically designed for this purpose – HERE, HERE, and HERE.

Organic Invest Bio Protection provides innovative biological mechanisms for pest control in orchard crops through colonization with bioagents such as Trichogramma and Chrysoperla carnea.

In addition to protecting plants and trees, we also offer products to safeguard stored produce, whether fresh or dried, from pest infestations in storage facilities.

Advantages of Using Trichogramma:

  • Eco-friendliness: Reducing the use of chemical products
  • Economic Efficiency: Pest control without additional costs for chemicals, treatment, or labor
  • Food Chain Safety: Reduction of mycotoxins and other contaminants

Collaboration with Professionals:
The team at Organic Invest Bio Protection works closely with scientists, agronomists, and farmers, providing tailored solutions for protecting various crops. By combining innovation with traditional practices, Trichogramma becomes not just a tool for protection but also a foundation for sustainable agriculture.

Pest Monitoring:
Monitoring crops is the exclusive responsibility of the farmer/agronomist.
When applying the bioagent Trichogramma for crop protection, pest monitoring is the foundation of success.

It is crucial to accurately determine the start of pest flights and mass egg-laying, as Trichogramma parasitizes the pest’s eggs.
The primary tools for pest monitoring include pheromone and light traps, as well as visual inspection (using light from lamps/headlights).

Pheromone and light traps attract pests and help detect the start of their reproduction and egg-laying.
We strongly recommend using pheromones from different manufacturers simultaneously! Numerous cases have shown that pests are absent in pheromone traps but present on plants, with significant infestations of caterpillars and fruitworms.

Most pests from the Lepidoptera family can migrate over long distances, from 8 to 30 km per day, especially in windy conditions.

Our Recommendations:

  • Greenhouses: Constantly treat crops throughout the production period.
  • Orchards: Monitor pest flights. Lepidoptera pests that damage orchard crops begin their attacks at the start of flowering and continue until leaf fall.

Once the initial flight of pests is detected in your crops, for maximum effectiveness, colonization should be carried out within 3 to 5 days.

Important Notes:

  • Trichogramma is a bioagent for crop protection that targets pests during the egg stage by parasitizing their eggs.
  • Trichogramma is ineffective against hatched pest larvae.
  • The application of Trichogramma is not related to the vegetative processes of plants.
